Lampwork and Hot Molten Glass

Thursday Evenings  

 May 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th,

During this class students will learn how to melt soft glass onto a mandrel, how to set up a small bead making studio, and how to manipulate hot glass to make beads. Students will have the opportunity to make several beads to take home. Come and experience the magic of hot molten glass.

Copper Foil Stained Glass

Wednesday Evenings

April 8^th, 15^th, 22^nd,    6:30 – 8:30 pm

This beginner's course in basic stained glass copper foil technique will teach you the art of cutting glass, foiling, soldering and finishing. Students will be creating one small piece to be able to understand and perform all parts of the process.  All materials will be provided.

 This class is great for wine lovers that care about the Environment. Made completely from recycled and re purposed items. This Wine Cork Coaster set is a great functional keepsake or the perfect gift for a loved one. (must be over 21)

All students will be provided with the materials to make one set of coasters.

Drawing with the Needle; the Stitches of Creative Embroidery

March 5^th, 12^th, 19^th, 26^th,   6 – 8 pm

This course is intended for anyone who has admired a sampler or a piece of embroidery, wondered how it was made, and would like to try to create their own drawing with the needle. We can all design - no previous experience needed, as soon as we get over the idea that only “experts” can. This course gives you the simple stitches to do so.  Anyone can make a straight stitch which can turn into a wondrous creation with a little help.

This course in direct mosaic technique is designed for beginners.   Learn the art of applying tesserae (Ceramic tile, vitreous glass tile, stained glass, broken china and pottery, glass beads, shells, pebbles, and jewelry) to an object (wood, terracotta, glass, etc – almost any non-flexible surface) to create your personalized mosaic art.  Students will be designing and creating a mosaic picture frame.  All materials will be provided – including the picture frame, stained glass, adhesive, grout and sealer.  Students are invited to bring other items to apply to their frame including flat marbles, broken dishes, jewelry, etc.

Wire Wrapping Skills for Beginners and Intermediates   

                                                                                                                                                  

Wire Wrapping Pendants, Cabochons, Crystals, and other Wire Wrapped Settings

 Have you ever wanted to make your own wire wrapped jewelry? Learn basic and intermediate skills to get you started setting your own pendants and cabochons with decorative wire techniques. Find out what materials and tools to use and how to use them properly.  From start to finish, the wire wrapping process will be covered for prong setting and cabochon setting techniques, as well as other skills like weaving, finishing, and coiling that will serve you well into advanced wire wrapping.  It is beautiful and satisfying, but it is also hard work.  Materials fee will include wire material, some hand tools, and other necessary materials like tape, razor blades, finishing tools, and simple settings.  Students will be encouraged to bring their materials (stones, etc.) for setting if desired.

Summer Workshop: Phoenix Watercolors

                     

Bring what you call your “failures” out of the Ashes

There are never failures in watercolor; only learning experiences and opportunities to use what you have.  We will play with techniques, tools of all kinds (salt, brushes, sticks, toothbrushes, sponges, Q-tips, etc.) and we will experiment with mixing media (wax crayons, pastels, pen & ink).

Bring your painting supplies, one to three watercolors, an open mind and a spirit of fun!
